Job Description
Manage large group of engineers including process, controls, and industrial engineers. Responsible for providing the plans, tools, and equipment fabrication, installation and upkeep for a large manufacturing facility. Responsible for providing technical support for day to day manufacturing activities in large automatic transmission manufacturing facility. Work is of a technical nature where substantial judgment is used and a considerable amount of creativity and initiative is necessary to make decisions.
Your other responsibilities will be:
Participates in the selection of new employees
Trains, develops and evaluates employees
Establishes overall group objectives and priorities
Evaluates and improves processes and procedures within area
Plays leadership role in development of sufficiency plans to attain plant's SPQRCE goals
Leads and/or supports major initiatives in 2000, 3000, 5000, 7000, and 9000-account initiatives
Develops long-range plans for improvements of processes and manufacturing activities
Provides technical assistance to manufacturing performance
Plays leadership role in implementation of GMS principles
Plays leadership role on implementation of safety systems
Maintains effectiveness in changing environments and with different technologies, people, responsibilities, and markets
Seeks input from internal and/or external customers to better understand customer needs
Creates and maintains an environment that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential
Qualifications - Internal
Extremely high level analytical ability where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult
Very high level interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
Highly developed oral and written communications skills
Thorough knowledge of complex mechanical concepts
Knowledge of quality systems and experience in working with suppliers
Uses appropriate interpersonal styles and communications methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals and objectives
Actively identifies new areas for learning, creates and takes advantage of learning opportunities
Must have major product management experience
Must have significant salaried supervision experience
Technical expertise on tooling, equipment, processes, and systems
Extensive background in transmission machining and assembly plant manufacturing operations - preferably at a leadership level
Education and/or Training
College degree with a major in engineering or equivalent training
Masters Degree Preferred
