Humana's Associate Vice President, Observability is a pivotal role that will drive the future state of Observability capabilities for the enterprise with a direct focus on improving business outcomes.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

lead our Observability products, architecture and engineering teams helping synthesize a variety of technologies and capabilities into high quality products and applications

define and drive our Observability strategy and guide its maturity journey

partner with leaders across the enterprise to drive improvements in the velocity, scale, and sophistication of engineering solutions

develop and implement Enterprise Observability strategic plans, drive associated business outcomes, in alignment with overall technology and Humana Strategy

articulate Enterprise Observability mission/vision and advance the observability maturity journey across the enterprise

leverage strong financial acumen to drive rationalization efforts and guide technology investments in the Observability space

establish trusted relationships across various executive level stakeholders and activate feedback loops to drive consistency in adoption and to drive strategic plans.

lead Observability product, architecture, and engineering teams with a focus on hiring and retaining top talent.

act as a thought leader within the enterprise to educate and evangelize Observability practices to materially improve operations

establish strong working relationships across various teams with associates at all levels and with partners

Required Qualifications

BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or a similar field required

10 or more years of leadership experience in product management, engineering, or operations roles at leading-edge companies

Strong executive presence and ability to communicate complex technical concepts at all levels

Experience delivering and managing enterprise class Observability solutions

Experience with observability, monitoring and logging products (such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Sumologic, Solarwinds, Thousand Eyes, Datadog, New Relic, Grafana etc.)

Familiarity with common industry monitoring frameworks like Four Golden Signals, LETS, DORA, MTTx, etc.

Experience with open standards (such as OpenTelemetry, StatsD, etc.)

Experience with IT Process Change Management

Experience with event management products (such as ServiceNow ITOM, Big Panda, Splunk ITSI)

Experience with cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure

Experience with multi-cloud environments, cloud services, and platform software

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and building-trusting relationships with stake holders

Experience working with mission critical systems

Ability to apply the principles of analytical and critical thinking skills and other professional practices to diagnose or define problems, collect data and solve abstract problems with widespread organizational impact

Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative and agile environment

Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail

Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities​

Preferred Qualifications

MS or higher in an engineering discipline

Healthcare experience

Additional Information

Location: Remote, anywhere USA

Requires 10-15% travel as business needs dictate

Work-At-Home Requirements: To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates' ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates must meet the following criteria: At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested; Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership; Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense; Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job; Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
