Senior Manager Product Development - Alternative Protein

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for leading an R&D team in planning, developing, and executing projects within business unit. This position will be hands-on with direct development activities as well as managing the work of other scientists. This person will be accountable to execution of new products, cost savings, and quality improvements for their team. They will directly interface with cross functional teams including marketing, insights, operations, engineering, FSQA, and purchasing in identifying prioritizing and executing work. This position will work with their project team to investigate and recommend formulations, processes, ingredients, and equipment that bring assigned projects to successful conclusion. They will manage and prioritize workload for their R&D team as well as provide coaching and development for direct reports.

Requirements:

EDUCATION: BS MS or PhD in Food Science Meat Science Food Engineering or related field.

EXPERIENCE: BS MS PhD with minimum 8 years relevant R&D work experience. No degree with minimum of 15 years of relevant experience. 3 plus years leadership management experience preferred. Alternative protein experience preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Requires excellent computer skills with ability to fully utilize MS Office products and Tyson systems or like systems.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Strong presentation skills required. Must have the ability to effectively communicate with all functional and management levels including senior leadership.

SPECIAL SKILLS if applicable : Proven strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and get work done through others; ability to manage personal project work along with team management responsibilities; strong aptitude to work cross-functionally and manage a large number of projects simultaneously in a matrix organization; strong personal drive proven analytical skills problem solving project management priority setting and teamwork skills; Broad product knowledge of both internal products as well as competitive set; understands and represents the needs of our consumers and customers both internal and external

SUPERVISORY: 1 plus direct reports

TRAVEL: 25 - 12 plus domestic trips per year. Travel will be required to accomplish our internal and external customer needs. Travel will include customer meetings plant production facilities for testing and commercialization of new products process trouble shooting and any other regular business needs.
